A Walk Through the Homestead

Clark's Cabin

Originally the first cabin you would have come to would have been Clark's Cabin. Clark's Cabin was a dogtrot building built by Jesse Brunson during the Depression. Unfortunately, Clark's Cabin was severely damaged during a 2003 tornado. Shortly after that the attached kitchen was damages as well and these buildings are no longer standing.

Originally the kitchen featured a Home Comfort cook stove, which was one of only 6 that were brought into Harrisburg by train and it was purchased by the Fair family. For many years the old stove was used regularly at the Homestead Christmas party.
